Altacor expands as Clinitas gains greater formulary acceptance

Altacor, the specialist ophthalmology company, is expanding. It has appointed two experienced product specialists, Alison Jones for the East of England and Ceri Myles for the South East, to help drive awareness of its Clinitas dry-eye treatment products with Hospital Consultants and Primary Care Trusts.

Proximagen Group plc (AIM: PRX), the rapidly growing company with a principal focus on the treatment of disorders of the central nervous system, and Altacor Limited (“Altacor”), a specialty ophthalmic pharmaceutical company, today announce that they have signed a Collaborative Research and Development Agreement (the “Agreement”). Under the terms of the Agreement Altacor will undertake the research and development of PRX00933, the lead compound from Proximagen’s 5HT2c programme, to treat glaucoma. Altacor also gains an option for exclusive global rights to ophthalmic indications with Proximagen retaining all rights outside of ophthalmology. The financial terms of the Agreement were not disclosed.

These licensing agreements are the last in the series of transactions in which Altacor now assumes full responsibility for the entire Ophthalmopharma portfolio of ophthalmic products covering development, Intellectual Property and commercialisation rights.

Altacor broadens portfolio with Intraocular lens (IOL) delivery

Altacor announces that it has today concluded an exclusive, worldwide licensing agreement with the Swiss based company Ophthalmopharma for its proprietary, preloaded injector for delivery of intraocular lens in cataract and corrective lens replacement surgery (currently known as SOLO®). This is the first in a series of transactions between Altacor and Ophthalmopharma in relation to its entire portfolio of ophthalmic products. Under the terms of the agreement, Altacor has assumed responsibility for all aspects of development, IP and commercialisation of the products.

Clinitas Soothe is a natural, preservative-free eye drop with the UK’s highest concentration of a natural lubricant, sodium hyaluronate. It is available in sterile containers that are safe, convenient and easy to use. Each pack contains 20 individual units each of which can now be used throughout a 12 hour period. Each unit can be opened and re-sealed with confidence thanks to new data confirming that the solution does not support the growth of microorganisms that can cause eye infection. Each unit contains between 8 and 10 drops, sufficient for one day’s use. After removing the lid, it can be inverted and replaced to form a good seal which will not leak.
